Range-Doppler Target Generators

ATG-9100 Front Panel
Innovative Technical Systems has designed a wide variety of custom target generators for measuring the performance of microwave automotive speed cameras. With models operating at 24 GHz and 34 GHz, our target generators can simulate simple, single targets moving at a constant speed, or more complex range-speed targets with dynamic motion.

ATG-9100 Rear Panel
The ATG-9100 is an example of a laboratory-quality instrument that will simulate complex target motion. Microwave signals from the speed camera enter the instrument through an integrated antenna which is then downconverted and digitized. Target simulation data is added to the digitized signal to provide range and Doppler information. The modified digital data is then converted back to an IF and upconverted to the original microwave frequency of the speed camera and radiated back through the antenna. Since the ATG-9100 can be phase-locked to an external 10 MHz reference standard, this instrument is suitable for use as a calibration standard for speed cameras.

Target data is generated either through a Windows-based GUI control program, or can be uploaded with an external data file. High speed communication is provided via an Ethernet interface.

Hand Held Target Generator
For simple Doppler target applications where a portable instrument is needed, Innovative Technical Systems has developed hand-held generators at both 24 GHz and 34 GHz. Simple constant-speed Doppler targets can be simulated with variable speed, amplitude, and direction.

Front Panel Controls
Doppler signals can be generated from the internal signal source or from an external waveform generator for more complex simulations. An integrated antenna serves as both the receiving and transmitting aperture. These highly portable instruments are conveniently powered from 12V sources, allowing them to be used in the field with battery connections to vehicles, or in the laboratory.
